Terms of service

Version 1, last updated 30 September 2026.

These terms are an agreement between you and Buddytech India Private Limited ("we", "us"), which runs theonebytwo (the app, the website at theonebytwo.com, and the pages people share from it, together "the Service"). By ticking the box on the app's first screen, or by using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What theonebytwo is

theonebytwo is a platform that helps adults looking for a life partner find and talk to each other. We suggest people; we are not a marriage bureau, a matchmaker, a background-check service or a party to any relationship, meeting or marriage between users.

2. Who can use it

By creating an account you confirm that:

3. Your account

4. Your profile and what you post

5. How you treat people

You agree not to:

There is no tolerance on theonebytwo for objectionable content or abusive users. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account behind it can be suspended or removed for good (section 7).

6. Safety

7. Reports, moderation and removal

We check photos and videos, on profiles and in chats, and messages, for content these terms forbid, and our moderators review reports. We act on every report of objectionable content or abusive behaviour within 24 hours, removing the content and, where it is warranted, the account that posted it. We may remove content, pause a conversation, hide a profile, or suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, with or without notice, and may keep what is needed to deal with a report or as the law requires. If you think we got it wrong, write to us (section 13).

8. Premium

9. Sharing with family and friends

If you and a match both choose to, either of you can share a link to the other's profile with family or friends. Share it only with people you trust; anyone holding the link can open it while it works. A link stops working when the match ends.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE A MATCH, A RELATIONSHIP OR A MARRIAGE, THAT OTHER USERS ARE WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

How we describe the Service on our website, in app stores and in our marketing, including calling it the "world's first data-led blind dating app", is our own good-faith view of what makes it different, based on what we know when we say it. It is promotional language, not a statement of fact, a ranking or a guarantee, and not a claim that no similar app or feature exists or has existed anywhere. Whether to use the Service should rest on what it actually offers, as these terms and the app describe it.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, NEITHER WE NOR OUR DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES OR AFFILIATES ARE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR FROM THE CONDUCT OF ANY USER, ONLINE OR OFFLINE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR PREMIUM IN THE SIX MONTHS BEFORE IT. Nothing in these terms limits a liability the law does not let us limit.

12. Your responsibility to us

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your content, or your interactions with other users, online or offline.

13. Complaints

For complaints about content, conduct, your account or your data, write to pritika@theonebytwo.com. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, or sooner where the law requires.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from them or from the Service will be settled by arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, by a sole arbitrator agreed by both sides (or, failing agreement, appointed under that Act), seated in Kolkata, in English. This does not stop you complaining to the Data Protection Board of India or any other regulator.
